The adapter is the connector between the cartridge and airbag system. The adapter can be silver, light blue, dark blue, or red and is screwed into the system in the backpack.

The safety notice affects all customers who own an AVABAG cartridge and should be reminded to check the weight of their cartridge before each use.

Not affected by the safety notice are AVABAG customers who come from North America, which has its own cartridges.

Only the ORTOVOX AVABAG CARTRIDGE CARBON is affected by the safety notice. ABS-specific issues are not taken into account here.

The weight of an unpierced AVABAG cartridge must correspond to the weight specified on the AVABAG cartridge (+/-5g). If the weight deviation exceeds 5g above or below the specified value, the cartridge can be replaced at a specialist dealer.

All ORTOVOX dealers have been informed. If not enough cartridges are in stock, your dealer can order more. They are usually delivered within three working days.

If the weight of your non-activated cartridge is lower than it should be, you can replace it with a new cartridge at your trusted specialist dealer free of charge.

You can use normal kitchen scales (that display grams).

Please ensure your cartridge has not been pierced and you have removed the protective cap. The required weight is specified on the cartridge. The actual weight of your cartridge must be within +/-5g of the specified weight.

There is a sticker on your cartridge that specifies the weight (without cap).

You can also take your AVABAG CARTRDGE CARBON to your ORTOVOX sports retailer to check the weight.

If the weight of your AVABAG CARTRIDGE CARBON is more than 5g below the weight specified on the cartridge (without cap), take your cartridge to an ORTOVOX dealer near you. There, you can replace your cartridge with a new one free of charge.

ORTOVOX indicates in the instruction manual, directly on the cartridge, and via ORTOVOX communication channels that the functionality of the airbag system must be checked before each use. This includes checking the weight and the correct filling level of the cartridge. If the system is prepared incorrectly or if the cartridge is filled incorrectly, the AVABAG avalanche airbag might not activate.

The protective aluminum cap is probably still screwed on. Please remove it and weigh the cartridge again.
