Alpine minimalism: our lightweight for alpinists

Robust, wind and waterproof hardshell jacket for alpine activities

Whether on icy north faces, during stormy ascents or severe snowfall on the summit – the ORTLER jacket and pants are our LIGHTWEIGHTS for Alpinists! For the MERINO NAKED SHEEP line we concentrated on the ESSENTIALS. LOW WEIGHT, PROTECTION and COMFORT. The products in this line are light but also robust and comfortable. Just like our naked sheep, here merino wool takes a back seat and is only used in certain areas for increased comfort.

This 3L hardshell for men is perfect for alpine tours. The robust outer material provides protection in any weather, for any activity – and is still ultra-light. The 3L ORTLER JACKET weighs in at just 445 grams (men’s size M).
The outer material is completely wind and waterproof thanks to the DERMIZAX®NX membrane, arguably the highest-performance membrane on the market, without compromising on breathability or freedom of movement! As far as features go, we’ve focused on the important things: The hardshell jacket has a two-way zipper for an optimal fit – even with a climbing harness. A two-way zipper in the underarm area provides cooling during sweat-inducing climbs. Merino mesh inserts around the chin and the 2-way adjustable storm hood offer comfort and protection in rain, snow or icy conditions.

And thanks to the intense colors, you’ll be highly visible with the ORTLER 3L hardshell, even in alpine terrain!

The NAKED SHEEP loves the feeling of unlimited freedom. No heart rate monitor, no records. Instead, it seeks those important moments that are far away from the hustle and bustle. The NAKED SHEEP is light on expeditions but never takes risks. Like in the new COLLECTION, FUNCTION and PROTECTION are his main focus. It’s the only way that the NAKED SHEEP can adapt to conditions.

Top!! I bought the jacket because I wanted a hard shell jacket for ski touring, mountaineering and other alpine tours. The 3L Ortler is the perfect one for everyone. The material is so abrasion-resistant that not even minimal marks can be seen after contact with a stone. Considering that the jacket was not actually made for mountaineering, I find it unbeatable there. The 2 pockets are both belt compatible. As with all Ortovox products, the quality is first class, as is the workmanship. The jacket keeps you completely dry even in longer and heavier rain. The inside of the jacket still feels dry and comfortable, even on strenuous ascents. I just want to recommend this jacket because it can do everything. I also think the price is justified, because 1. you get a top product and 2. you know that it was produced sustainably and in Europe. Top!!

I got the jacket and pants combo. Intended use mainly for freeriding and ski touring. I would also like to use the jacket as a rain jacket for the mountains in summer. First freeriding test was very positive. We had absolute crap weather with heavy snowfall. The jacket is absolutely water and windproof. Great fit for me (170cm size M), the pants also fit well. I have short legs and the pants are not too long. Unfortunately, my pants slipped down, so I definitely recommend buying the suspenders. With the few pockets I get along well, because I always have a backpack with me anyway. I don't know why Ortovox doesn't recommend the combination for freeriding. Since it is a hard shell, it cannot really give you warmth. Therefore pull a corresponding 2nd layer underneath, then it fits. The jacket is super breathable and super comfortable thanks to the stretch material.

I've had the combination of jacket and trousers for a year now and I'm always happy that I took the money into my hands back then! I wanted to have a hard shell outfit for ski tours and mountaineering and also use it for hiking from time to time. In short - the Ortler outfit is ideal for everything. It has fully proven itself both in winter and in summer. Even on normal hikes, the good Gore-Tex jacket, which is still young, always stays at home because the Ortler doesn't rustle and is less rigid. Even on rainy days in everyday life I often wear them because they are simply awesome to wear. The outfit is really worth every euro, I've never had anything better!
