FEWER POSSESSIONS, LESS BAGGAGE

In future, will we be able to move away from wanting to possess everything? A culture of sharing is not only more sustainable, but can also be a kind of relief. More space, less responsibility. More flexibility, less baggage. Mountain sports also offer opportunities to rent and share things, to buy used, and to pass on for recycling.

RENTING

If you only use a product every now and then, it makes sense to rent. Nowadays, it’s possible to rent from a number of specialist dealers. Here you can find out where you can test and rent ORTOVOX products. Alpine clubs also have departments that rent out all kinds of mountain sports equipment, or you could ask around among your friends.

BUY USED

Platforms for trading, selling and buying mountain sports and ski equipment can be found on social media and alpine club websites. During the season, there are stores that specialize in outdoor clothing and many local sports clubs that hold flea markets where you can buy and sell what you need.

PASS IT ON

If an old product is beyond help, you might be able to breathe new life back into it: old skis can be transformed into a bench, a jacket can become a chalk bag. Or you could donate to one of the many upcycling projects. There are initiatives run by alpine clubs, for example, and many indoor climbing walls have collection points for old climbing ropes.
