The BADGER is a lightweight aluminum shovel with an ergonomic, hybrid grip for maximum power transmission. Ist sizable blade volume of 2.5 liters is backed up by robust design, pronounced center ridge and high side walls for full rigidity. Non-slip grooves on the top edge of the blade provide adequate traction when wearing boots. A centering aid in the shaft socket facilitates rapid assembly.

I've tried this shovel but I still much prefer their pro light series or avu series.. For some reason both of those are not available anymore. You can still find them online at other retailers... they are basically the same shovel as this only lighter (by almost a pound) they are also telescoping which this one is not.. For on the go, most compact option, while also being functional, I recommend their pro light series or other light weight models. Ortovox please bring those models back! Both of them were award winning! Why have you stopped stocking them?? All Ortovox shovels are great but for ski touring, rescue, or long distance hiking where weight and compactness is important, you can't beat the pro light or avu models!
