LOW WEIGHT, PLENTY OF WARMTH

Lightweight insulated jacket as a warming layer for particularly cold days

Highlights

• Streamlined and functional
• Elastic and comfortable
• Small pack size

The Swisswool PIZ SEGNAS JACKET for men has its big moment when it comes to powder days.

Streamlined to focus on the necessary and yet still highly functional, this lightweight, casual-cut insulated jacket provides cozy warmth under a hardshell even in midwinter conditions or as an outer layer on warmer days.

With its 90 g/m² Swisswool padding on the front, back, shoulders and outer sleeves, this is one of the warmer underjackets available from ORTOVOX. A lighter 60 g/m² lining is used on the sides, inner sleeves and underarms – thus the jacket offers optimum freedom of movement and the best microclimate, as well as being compactly packable.

In combination with the discreet collar edging and cuffs, the elastic, wind-resistant, extremely breathable TEC-STRETCH outer material stands up reliably to any weather. A backpack-optimized breast pocket provides space to keep a phone and trail bar within easy reach.

For the sake of the environment, the Swisswool PIZ SEGNAS JACKET for men is PFC-free, climate-neutral and made in Europe. The jacket is also a real eye-catcher with its striking quilted pattern and contrasting colored collar.

The Piz Segnas Jacket, which I bought a few weeks ago, started shedding a significant amount of wool on its very first day in the mountains. The insulation is coming out of the seams and spilling out of the lining. As a result, the baselayer underneath is covered in wool fibers. The cuffs are also already fraying, even though the jacket has only been worn five times. Ortovox informed me that they cannot rule out the possibility of this problem occurring with a replacement jacket. As I have since read in other reviews, it seems that other Ortovox jackets are also losing their insulation. This isn't the first time I've had problems with Ortovox skiwear. A softshell jacket discolored, and a pair of softshell pants developed an inexplicable tear after just a few days. It's a real shame: the clothes are actually good, but the quality is more on par with cheap products.
