Experience the world of glaciers with our Ortovox SAFETY ACADEMY high alpine touring course! Our comprehensive training course will provide you with the tools you need to succeed safely in an alpine environment. Careful planning and preparation are essential for quickly identifying and avoiding alpine risks. We place particular emphasis on the selection and safe use of your equipment, including important knot techniques to help you in a wide range of situations. Our experienced mountain guides will not only teach you how to safely use a rope, ice axe and crampons, but also how to walk and orient yourself safely and independently on glaciers.

Prepare yourself for unforgettable high alpine touring adventures and acquire the skills to conduct them safely and independently. Safety in the mountain is our top priority!

HIGH ALPINE TOURING COURSE

Learning basic knowledge and skills for glacier, ice and high alpine tours, walking safely with crampons and ice axes, fall techniques, the correct way to rope up and handle equipment, and first rescue techniques.

Ropework and anchoring techniques
Walking with rope, ice axe & crampons
Vertical & front-pointing technique in crampons
Belay anchor construction – snow & ice

Preventing falls

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Imparting basic knowledge and skills of glacier, ice and mountain tours
Safe walking with crampons (walking in balance and front-pointing)
Self-larresttechniques
Roping up for glacier travel and
Teaching crevasse rescue techniques

COURSE REQUIREMENTS

Basic knowledge or courses in mountaineering
Safe footing on the approach area and very good fitness for 4-6 hour climbing routes approaches
Knowledge of knotting techniques is an advantage, but not mandatory
