Versatile, comfortable and functional: Developed for use in alpine terrain, the TRAVERSE line meets all the requirements of demanding tours. Around 60% of the fabrics used in the TRAVERSE line (excluding PURE models) are solution-dyed. Compared to conventional dyeing processes, this method can reduce the use of water and chemicals during manufacturing.
With its COMFORT-CONTACT BACK SYSTEM, the TRAVERSE 38 S offers balanced comfort: The pads ensure permanent air circulation, while the wide, ergonomic shoulder straps and wide hip belt distribute the load evenly. A circumferential zipper provides quick, easy access to the main compartment of the TRAVERSE 38 S, while additional equipment can be stowed in the lid pocket, the inner compartment, the elasticated front pocket and the bottom compartment. A helmet net, compression straps, pole holders, hip pocket and shoulder strap pocket round off the features designed specifically for mountaineering.

This pack gets shit done!!
I’ve had a version of this backpack from ortovox for about two years now. I am a trail worker in the Rocky Mountains, and this is honestly the most perfect trail work backpack whether or not it was intended for that. The helmet cradle is a total game changer for carrying hard hats, it has so many straps for tying down axes, chaps, hand saws, etc. It’s got space for a water bladder and two stretchy side pockets for extra water bottles PLUS more stuff. Super easy side access so I don’t have to take everything out of my backpack to get to my snacks and rain gear. This backpack is truly probably the most functional piece of gear I own, and it has held up through two seasons of pretty intense use so far. If you need a larger day pack that can carry a lot of stuff and support the weight this is the one.
