TRAINING TOOL FOR THEORY AND PRACTICE

A comprehensive mountain model for teaching how to assess avalanche danger and plan tours.

Highlights

Training model for:

  • Assessing avalanche danger
  • Tour planning
  • Risk management

Whether you’re on a beginner’s ski tour course or you’re preparing for a vigorous west alpine traverse: The SAFETY ACADEMY MOUNTAIN 3D (SAM) will help you clearly illustrate and better explain the avalanche risk factors and their complex causality to beginners and advanced ski tourers on a safety course.

This clever mountain model fills the gap between theory and the reality in the mountains and provides a fundamentally better understanding of the complexity of avalanche formation. The SAM educational tool can be used to playfully learn the basics of tour planning including danger identification and avalanche assessment, and to practice a variety of scenarios. Whether in a group on a training course or when planning a tour with advanced ski tourers: Information from the avalanche bulletin such as slope steepness, slope aspect, wind-borne snow and relevant danger areas are made much more conclusive on the mountain model. Through a variety of exercises, users playfully learn how to choose a tour that fits the conditions.

The SAFETY ACADEMY MOUNTAIN 3D (SAM) brings fun and visual understanding to safety training and tour planning. No matter whether you’re a beginner or a pro: Only practice makes perfect.
