ORTOVOX becomes ISMF member

ORTOVOX becomes a member of the International Ski Mountaineering Federation

The mountaineering equipment manufacturer ORTOVOX has joined the International Ski Mountaineering Federation (ISMF) for the 2014/15 winter season and is now part of the ISMF Manufacturers Pool. “As experts in ski-touring apparel and mountain safety, we are proud to be a partner of the ISMF”, said Hendrik Reschke, Head of Communication at ORTOVOX Sportartikel GmbH. In future, athletes will be able to find ORTOVOX products on the “White List”. With the help of this list, they can find out which products are suitable for ski mountaineering competitions. Products are only listed if they meet the ISMF’s requirements.

The ISMF hosts various ski mountaineering competitions, including the annual World Cup season as well as the World and European Championships. The aim of the ISMF is to see ski mountaineering made an Olympic discipline. In November 2012, the Association made an official application to the International Olympic Committee (IOC), and in April of this year the ISMF obtained the provisional recognition by the IOC as an Olympic association. The ISMF arose in 2008 from the International Council for Ski Mountaineering Competitions (ISMC) and has its headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland.
