TRAD 18

CLIMBING

SO SMALL, LIGHT AND COMFORTABLE!

Only you and the rock face and the TRAD 18 - no extra weight, nothing to get in the way. At only 225 grams, this backpack is really LIGHTWEIGHT. The highlight: when turned inside out, it can be STORED AWAY IN ITS OWN POCKET and requires only minimal space. In this way, the ultra-light TRAD 18 fits perfectly into the bigger members of the TRAD family, to be used only when you get to the rock face. Because being lightweight alone is not enough, we have of course added features such as material loops, rope fastening option, a hydration system fastening and a zip pocket for storing valuables. The lightly padded shoulder straps and soft back guarantee the necessary wear comfort. To ensure that the treatment of injured parties is as effi  cient as possible, an EMERGENCY CARD has also been integrated into the backpack.

Summary of Customer Ratings

( 1 )
This is a great pack to wear while climbing and its packs down so small its easy to bring with you anywhere. I have used this pack ice climbing to hold my belay mitts and parka, and most recently on an alpine climbing trip to the Cirque of the Towers in Wyoming. I was surprised how much gear I could pack into here. I had 3 liters of water, climbing shoes, rack, lunch, helmet, and rope on this pack to approach climbs from our camp. It carried well despite not having a hip belt or much of a frame. My two complaints with the pack are that the foam in the shoulder straps twists up and moves around a bit. My other is that there is not a "burly" clip-in loop to hang the bag from an anchor. The top loop on there is not very confidence inspiring when my walk off shoes, and lunch hang in the balance. I usually clip both shoulder straps together and use that to hang it from the anchor. It works but it makes the bag hang low and twist around and I would rather it just had a burly top loop to clip in with. Bottom line: one of the best packs out there to wear while climbing. *** Member of the Ortovox North American Athlete team ***
