Steve Reynaud

I've been lucky to call the mountains home for most of my adult life and have been a full time snow professional working in many aspects of the snow world. I am an avalanche forecaster for the Sierra Avalanche Center, a certified ski guide through the American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA) and an avalanche educator through the American Institute of Avalanche Research and Education (AIARE). As an owner/guide/instructor for Tahoe Mountain School based out of Truckee, CA-we focus on avalanche education, backcountry skiing and ski mountaineering.

Goals

To further my career/knowledge in snow forecasting, avalanche education and ski guiding. Along the way, bag some peaks and ski lots of powder.

Why Ortovox?

The first avalanche rescue gear I ever used was ORTOVOX. I work full time in the snow all winter long and depend on my equipment to perform in all conditions. ORTOVOX equipment and mountainwear is made to work, and the quality and functionality is first class.

Favorite Summit

After skiing on 4 continents and counting, I still really enjoy the Sierra Nevada for the amazing ski mountaineering objectives, easy access, and maritime snowpack.

Best Descent

I think back to my first heli ski trip to the Chugach Range in AK. That was a transformational period in my life into big mountain skiing.

Safety Tip

Know before you go. Get the gear and get the training. Then, find like-minded people to go have fun with in the mountains.

Achievements

AMGA Certified Ski Guide; AIARE Level 1 and Level 2 course leader; Member Tahoe Nordic Search and Rescue Team; EMT; Professional Member-American Avalanche Association.

If avalanches are the problem, terrain is the solution.
