ALPINE MINIMALISM: OUR LIGHTWEIGHT FOR ALPINISTS

Robust, wind and waterproof hardshell jacket for alpine activities

Highlights

  • Extra light and yet robust
  • Wind- and waterproof
  • Breathable with additional ventilation zippers

Whether on stormy ascents or in heavy snowfall on a summit – the 3L ORTLER JACKET for women is our lightweight for true alpinists!

For the MERINO NAKED SHEEP line we’ve concentrated on the essentials: Low weight, optimum protection and ample comfort. This hardshell jacket is lightweight and technically sophisticated yet robust and comfortable. The DERMIZAX® NX membrane from Toray – the most high-performance membrane that we use – ensures the jacket is windproof, waterproof and breathable. The hardshell jacket has a 2-way zipper for an optimal fit – even with a climbing harness. A 2-way zipper in the underarm area provides ventilation during sweat-inducing climbs. Soft, merino-mix inserts around the chin and the 2-way adjustable, helmet-compatible storm hood offer comfort and protection in rain, snow or icy conditions.

The 3L ORTLER JACKET: For alpinists who want clothing that is 100% reliable during high alpine tours when it’s snowing and icy.

The 3L ORTLER jacket I bought at the end of 2019 is no longer waterproof, despite proper care. Even cycling 10 minutes to work gets your head wet. I am very dissatisfied with the product and unfortunately cannot recommend it at all. There are certainly cheaper and more sustainable products that can do just as much. But most of all, I am dissatisfied with the service. After my retailer tried to send the jacket in, I got the answer that the 2-year guarantee had expired. Here I am very disappointed that the brand advertises sustainability and longevity but does not live it.

Servus Sofia, thank you for your review. We are very sorry that you are not satisfied with our Ortler Jacket. Unfortunately I have to tell you first of all that we don't design our jackets for cycling. Our core sports are: freeriding, touring, mountaineering, climbing and mountaineering. Nevertheless, I will send you a few care tips so that the impregnation can be refreshed again. As far as service is concerned, it is of course true that you have a 2-year no-claims guarantee on our products. We also offer an ORTOVOX repair service, which is subject to a fee. You are also welcome to take a look at our Protact LAB: https://www.ortovox.com/de/protact-academy-lab/04-kapitel-4/produktpflege Here my colleagues Paul and Benni explain in a very charming way how your ORTOVOX Products best maintained and repaired.

Ski touring
I have been very satisfied with this jacket for backcountry touring. The fit is categorized as "Regular" but I went one size bigger to accommodate very cold days, below freezing, when we are still outside recreating or working and piling more layers underneath the shell. The material is supple and quiet. There are no hand pockets, which makes since for a backcountry ski tour jacket because your pack belt will impede the use of hand pockets. I put my inclonometer in the arm pocket for quick access as I move through terrain. I also love that the hood fits over my helmet. Colors are great!
