SO SMALL, LIGHT AND COMFORTABLE!

Small, lightweight and extremely minimalistic climbing backpack for alpinists

Only you and the rock face and the TRAD 18 - no extra weight, nothing to get in the way. At only 225 grams, this backpack is really LIGHTWEIGHT. The highlight: when turned inside out, it can be STORED AWAY IN ITS OWN POCKET and requires only minimal space. In this way, the ultra-light TRAD 18 fits perfectly into the bigger members of the TRAD family, to be used only when you get to the rock face. Because being lightweight alone is not enough, we have of course added features such as material loops, rope fastening option, a hydration system fastening and a zip pocket for storing valuables. The lightly padded shoulder straps and soft back guarantee the necessary wear comfort. To ensure that the treatment of injured parties is as effi  cient as possible, an EMERGENCY CARD has also been integrated into the backpack.

I used the Trad 18 on a recent trip to Peña de Bernal in Central Mexico, climbing several five-to-seven pitch sport routes with short (20-30 minute) approaches and descents. This is a nice summit-type pack, simple in design and very lightweight and compact. The pack carries well, with articulated shoulder straps and a chest strap that adds stability while climbing (there is no waist strap—I didn’t feel a need for one). I was able to carry 1L of water, a few energy bars, a small FA kit, approach shoes, and a wind shirt during the climb without maxing the pack out. The reverse-teardrop design facilitates access to items in the pack when it’s full. There is a small outside side-zip pocket for cell phone/wallet/keys that worked well. The pack has a simple drawstring closure, so lacks good rain protection—perhaps one thing that could be improved. The park also served very well as a day pack for visits to hot springs and markets, and for longer bus rides.
