Keeping freeriders’ fingers warm

Robust, warm, wind- and waterproof mittens for freeriding on cold days

Highlights

  • Wind- and waterproof
  • Robust and long-lasting
  • Extra warm

The MERINO FREERIDE MITTENS for men are technically smart, reliable companions for particularly cold days in deep snow.

Thanks to their high-quality workmanship, these warm freeriding gloves are extra robust and long-lasting. The two-layer upper material is wind- and waterproof and also lined with a Sympatex functional membrane, while the padding is made from merino wool scrap cuttings to provide the necessary protection and good insulation.

High-quality goatskin on the palms guarantees good grip even when wet. Thanks to the dual width adjustment at the wrist and cuff, the MERINO FREERIDE MITTENS for men can be optimally adjusted and effectively keep out the cold and wind. Inside, pleasantly soft FLEECE LIGHT GRID with fine merino wool ensures optimal temperature and moisture regulation.

Freeriding
I bought the Merino Freeride Mitten M 6 years ago and was very happy with it. It consists of two parts. The outer glove and a removable inner glove. Very good insulation, even at -20°C and waterproof with the Derer membrane. Unfortunately, I now had to replace the glove. The current version has a non-removable finger glove on the inside. It's not written anywhere and you only have to find out when the glove has been sent. The insulation also feels significantly thinner. If you want a middle, you don't need finger gloves. Unfortunately, that doesn't work for me at all.

Well made but NOT warm. If you prefer a Mountain for most days on the mountain, this is fine. If you want to meet in for cold is in the mountain this is not your pick. Well made but NOT warm. Really solid freeride mitts. Kept my hands warm. Solid choice for those cold days on the mountain. Thumbs up from me!

Ski touring
The mittens never leave my pack and while I don't need the warmth all the time, they are an absolute life saver when your hands are cold. I use them both on ski tours and while riding the chair at the resort. They pack down well and are lightweight enough to be a piece of emergency gear for any trip into the mountains. They are super warm but not too bulky and you still have a fair bit of dexterity for a mitten. It is a small thing but I also like the real leather; it dramatically improves grasping things.
