"Freeriding means absolute freedom for me. To see a mountain, choose a line and then to go ahead with one's own imagination and skill is the greatest art for me. Many often ask me why I do such a thing? Why I should risk my life? And what does the whole thing give me?
I go snowboarding, because it is a unique feeling of being on the board, to feel the wind, to swirl in the air often several feet high with every turn of the snow and just glide. When I'm down again and watch my traces and let the whole thing pass again in review, it brings a smile on my face that stays there all day. I would never put my life at risk recklessly. The possibility that an avalanche is triggered, or that you fall is of course always there, but I try to minimize the risk in advance to such an extent that I can say for myself that I can handle it. It might often appear reckless, but there is a lot more preparation behind it than what an outsider sees."

Home base:
Innsbruck

Sponsors:
Ortovox, Arbor, Marmot, Dragon and SP

Goals/Plans:
Reaching the Freeride World Tour and to descent more steep faces

Why Ortovox?
Gives me a feeling of safety on the mountain!

Favorite products from Ortovox!
S1. Very efficient and yet easy to use.

Best descent:
Hard to say, but perhaps the combined descent (850 hm 45-55°) of Brochkogel north face and a new line in the Taschach Eiswand with 40 cm fine powder and sunshine.

Favorite peak:
There isn't one. There are so many good summits in Tyrol with incredibly good descents. In any case I prefer peaks that I myself do not climb and reach with a gondola or a chair lift.

Safety tip on descent:
Have the avalanche bulletin in mind with regard to the descent, where I can stand, where I can go in an emergency, ...

2. place Röldal Freeride FWQ (Norway) 2010
9. place FWQ Ranking 2010
