During the past twenty years, this professional mountain guide and Austrian mountain and ski guide instructor has had a significant influence on the development of climbing routes and hiking trails in the Styrian Mountains (Gesäuse). He knows the important ascents in the Alps, including the North Wall of the Matterhorn, the Eiger and the Triolet as well as the most difficult climbing routes in the Dolomites.
In 1971, he crossed the Alps on cross-country skis (40 hiking days - 2,000 km - 80,000 m altitude in ascents). Furthermore, his method of moving back from overhanging walls has greatly influenced mountain rescue technique.
