This additional field portion is a strongly recommended follow-up after your Level 1 training. It is also a great refresher if it's been some time since you took an avalanche course, even Level 2. It visits stability evaluation, hazard assesment, terrain utilization and rescue while on a high alpine tour in the backcountry. The training puts a large emphasis on the decision making process, including group member dynamics that often lead to poor decisions.
This may be the most valuable portion of your introduction avalanche education. For Strong Intermediate and Advanced skiers with previous backcountry experience with Level 1 or an equivalent understanding.
