ORTOVOX TO OFFER ITS OWN ABS BACKPACKS FROM 2013
share:
At the start of January, ABS Peter Aschauer GmbH and ORTOVOX Sportartikel GmbH signed a LICENCE PARTNERSHIP for the use of the ABS-INSIDE SYSTEM. From 2013, ORTOVOX will therefore be adding its OWN AVALANCHE BACKPACKS to its existing range of avalanche emergency equipment.
ORTOVOX has epitomized avalanche safety since 1980 and has successively expanded its hardware range to include avalanche transceivers, avalanche shovels, avalanche probes and backpacks. ORTOVOX BACKPACKS have had an excellent reputation within the winter sports scene for 27 YEARS and are characterized by their OPTIMUM QUALITY, FUNCTIONAL DESIGN and FOCUS ON SAFETY. The recently acquired licence now enables the Munichbased company to integrate the ABS system into its own backpacks so as to further develop its safety concepts.
The ABS SYSTEM helps improve ACTIVE AVALANCHE SAFETY and is integrated into specially developed backpacks. In the event of an avalanche, the victim pulls the deployment handle installed on the backpack carrier system. A pressurized cartridge is pierced and gas escapes, inflating two airbags that are integrated into the backpack in a matter of seconds. Although the airbags cannot prevent victims from being swept along by the avalanche, they keep them on top of it and stop them being buried alive. This prevents death by suffocation, the main cause of death in avalanche accidents.
In addition to the licence partnership and the associated SYSTEM INTEGRATION ADVICE, plans are also in place
for JOINT SALES VENTURES and COOPERATION IN THE FIELD OF MARKETING.
