"I had the privilege of competing in the 2nd Annual Ski Patrol Olympics at Squaw Valley in late April against my peers from all across North America. One of the events I was entered in was the beacon search, attempting to find and probe 3 beacons as fast as possible. I did so with the S1, and went in with the utmost confidence, never having been as dialed as I've been with a beacon in my life. The run was pretty much flawless, which wasn't a surprise, as my experience with the S1 in numerous avy search scenarios, and beacon park run-throughs yielded the same super quick result time and time again, without fail. The display, flagging, range, and pinpoint functions are all top notch. Long story short, I smoked it! I won the gold medal by 32 seconds. And the guys I work with, exclusively using Ortovox, all were in the top 25% of the field, a testament to their practice, skill, and the tool they were using. With the countless variables in the overall avy search, you've got to know that the seconds in the beacon search portion are a given, an absolute, and the results speak for themsleves. Next year, when I return to defend my title, I'll toe the line using the S1, and I have no doubt, the results will be the same. Cheers and thanks!"
